Protect your home in 2009

A few simple tasks each month can bring peace of mind and

help boost your home's value.

Water leaks, fire hazards, pest infestations.
They are all out to turn your biggest asset into a money pit. But home upkeep doesn't have
to swallow up your weekends or put a big dent in your savings.

Some of the tasks can be done anytime, depending on the weather, and none require much time or money.  Best of all, you can pace them across 12 months, so you will have time throughout the year to enjoy your home, family and friends

           Fall Tips

Furnace Inspection, change filters monthly

Review your fire escape plan wit your family

Remove bird nests from chimney flues and outdoor electrical fixtures

Trim your trees and remove dead branches

 Test your emergency generator

Check weather stripping and caulking around windows and doors and replace or repair as needed.

Make sure there are working night lights at the top and bottom of the stairs

Inspect and clean dust from the covers of your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms

Tile and painted wood or concrete can be slippery when wet or when a person's shoes are wet. Resurface the treads with slip resistant strips near the stair nosing.
